Welcome to beautiful Elgin, Arizona.
Elgin Elementary School offers a unique educational experience. Tucked among the rolling, prairie grasslands of rural Sonoita Valley in Elgin, Arizona, Elgin School offers peaceful views of mountain ranges surrounding a sea of open space. Our campus is surrounded by cattle ranches, vineyards and blue skies.
Elgin School is a safe and caring learning community committed to the development of the whole child. Our mission is to engage all children in the art and work of childhood, to provide them a solid academic foundation and to have them demonstrate responsible citizenship through innovative, rich curriculum, which responds to the children’s needs. Check out the parent information page for information on our Character Counts program and our F.I.S.H. program, both designed to instill strong values in our students and staff.
Elgin’s traditions are rich in community collaborations, academic achievement, and a talented teaching staff. We start each school day with our flag ceremony by meeting in the gymnasium for the Pledge, morning announcements, and birthday greetings. We host a community dinner each year, known as “Burger Burn” which brings the community into the school to build strong relationships with the staff and students. Elgin and the Local American Legion post coordinate a commemoration of Veterans’ Day each year in which our students, staff, and community honor those who have served our country to protect its freedoms. Understanding that we have a rich cultural history to preserve, Elgin annually holds Ranch and Rodeo Days in which the Santa Cruz Cowbelles introduce our students to all aspects of ranch life.
